2009-2010 Winterleague Tournament and PARTY!

darth
Tournament Rules:

Start times are very important.  Please observe cap, and monitor time.  Games start promptly at 9:00am.  If one team is ready and the other is not, the ready team needs to put 7 players on the line at 9:00am, and begin assessing 1 point for every 5 minutes the game is delayed.  (Eg. 9:05am, game is now 1-0).

Games are short, keep calls to “contest” and “no-contest”.  Don’t neglect Spirit of the Game.  Arguments should be decided by CAPTAINS ONLY.

Hard-8 BBQ will be served starting around noon-time and will continue into the evening, so if your team loses, be sure to hang around and heckle up a storm! End of season party starts at 7pm, and will go until we run out of steam, with a live band and a kickin’ crawfish boil, so put on your dancin’ shoes and get on out there!

Schedule Posted – NOTE: Schedule CHANGE!

Full schedule is online:

http://www.dallaswinterleague.com/Schedule.pdf

Let me draw your attention to one very important change:

The “rain-out” week for Mardi Gras has been moved from 2/20/10 to 2/13/10 to coincide with the annual Mardi Gras tournament!  We will be doing “something” (details to come later) on the 13th, but it will not be a standard week of WinterLeague. Captains need to make super triple sure that they tell their teams to show up on the 20th.

Very Important Parking Information

There have been some late-breaking changes to our parking situation. It is going to be very difficult if people do not carpool. Please read the details below from Tom to make sure you are not walking an extra mile to get to the fields!

Email Tom if you are willing to volunteer your minivan for shuttle service.

How to Pay for Winter League

To pay via Pay Pal, follow the Dashboard link. There will be a link to pay via paypal. If you are not already logged into the site, you will be asked for your username and password.

To pay via check, just bring it with it on Saturday. If you haven’t already mailed it, there’s a good chance of it not being received and processed in time.

You can check your payment status on the Rosters page. There will be a note at the top that indicates the last time payment status was updated.

Dallas Winterleague Week 1 Details

All,

You should be getting an email soon from your captain with details about this weekend.  If you haven’t gotten an email, you can check which team you are on by going to the “Rosters” page and finding your name.  If you are not on the rosters page, you did not register, and need to contact me.

Other things to keep in mind-

1) Polo field rules:

  • All dogs must be on a leash at all times
  • No bottled beer opened on the fields area, only near the food / check-in area
  • No standing, sitting, or walking on the Stands area (on top of the hill) or the scoreboard
  • No illicit substances of any kind
  • Please make sure to not leave ANY trash on the fields. If it came with you, make sure it leaves with you. Lost and found is over next to the food service area.

2) Check-in procedure:

    • Games start at noon. Please be there by 11:30am to get checked in and receive your disk, and shirt (if shirts are available). We are unsure if the printer will get them complete on time, so please remind your teams to bring both a white and a dark shirt just in case. Grey is neither.
        • Check in at the food service area (illustrated here: http://dallaswinterleague.com/wp/map/ ), pay if you need to pay, or just get checked off the list if you have paid. You will be handed a player’s packet (bag of goodies) and a disk. IF WE DO NOT HAVE SHIRTS AVAILABLE, please bring your disk week 2. Showing your disk will work as proof of payment to allow you to get your shirt without once again going through the “check-in” line

          3) Things to bring:

          • Something to drink.  Water or gatorade.  Beer is allowed at the field, but is not provided by the league.
          • Checkbook if you haven’t paid. You can not pick up your disk and play week 1 if you have not paid.
          • Utensils / Mug / Plate. Frisbees make decent plates. Pizza will be served after the game (please limit yourself to 2 slices), but cups and plates are NOT PROVIDED each week.
          • A white shirt, and a dark shirt.

          Thanks,

I look forward to another great season!

          Tom Richardson

          Registration Open for WL2009-2010

Registration will be open through noon on December 1st.  Please register now.  League will begin December 12th.

There is NO Late Registration.  League cost is 55$ for new players, and 60$ for returning players. Games are on Saturday afternoons at 12:00 and 2:00, with a total of 10 weeks of play.  Please check the FAQ page for the full schedule.

Steps to register for Winter League:

          1. New players, click on the Site Registration link above and create a log in for your account on DallasWinterLeague.com.  If you have played in previous years your log-in should still be available.  Click “Site Login” above or click here to log in to DallasWinterLeague.com and skip to step 4.
          2. After you finish the site registration you will be emailed your id and password.  It may take five minutes or so for your account to be setup.
          3. If you have newly registered for the site, return to the website and sign in.  This should take you back to the registration page to finish registering for winter league. (Note: You should only have to perform steps 1-3 as a first time Dallas Winter League player.  Afterwards, you should be able to use your log in and jump directly to step 4)
          4. Click on the League Registration page. Select the current season: Dallas Winter League 2009-2010 . Complete that form and Submit and then Confirm .
          5. Pay.  You are welcome to use Paypal to pay by credit card, or mail your check directly to the Winter League Treasurer.  Details are on the payment page.  Winterleague costs 55$ for new players, and 60$ for returning players.
          6. Confirm. Go to the Rosters page and verify that you are on the “Draft List” team for the appropriate division. This should be available immediately after you register. If you have paid and we have updated the database, it will be indicated next to your name. Feel free to heckle your friends who have not registered or not paid. (But give them a week on the payment issue. Payment status is updated semi-automatically every couple of days. Last update date will be displayed at the top of the page)

          New this year:

Pairings are being handled differently this year.  We are cutting down on the number of automatic pairings to help speed up and smooth out the drafting process.  Each recreational player is allowed to be paired automatically with exactly one other Winter League player.  Competitive players can only be paired together if there is a small child that would need watching on the sidelines.  You are welcome to make pleas for more pairings in the comments section, but these pairings are not guaranteed, and will be accommodated as best as we can at draft time.  If you have 7 players you want to play with you, I suggest you email me and let me know that you are captaining a team.

The pairing dropdown is populated with only the players currently registered for this season of Winterleague.  If you don’t see your pairing of choice in the list, you will need to wait until they register.  Pairing requests automatically generate an email allowing the player to confirm the request.  You can edit or monitor your pairing status at any time by visiting the pairings page.
